HOW WAS THE GUITAR BAG® BORN?
The Guitar Bag® was born from the desire for redemption of designer Maria Josè Carral San Laureano.
It all started with a 16-year-old girl who, after being told "no" to her desire to play the electric guitar, found an alternative way to get closer to her idols—by gluing guitar straps onto her bags.
A teenage dream temporarily set aside, only to be revived 30 years later by a woman. This is where The Guitar Bag® was born.
After a journey of creative exploration and prototyping, The Guitar Bag® is now a registered trademark and an innovative startup, thanks to a utility model patent for the strap button granted by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
The Guitar Bag® is the result of the dedication of Italian artisans, professionals, customers, business angels, and the person who believed in that rebellious young woman more than anyone else—her husband, Riccardo.
Today, The Guitar Bag® is also a concept store in the heart of Rome, where music meets fashion to fulfill the dreams of all stars aspiring to make their debut. You don’t need to play an instrument to wear a The Guitar Bag® —you just need to love music, quality, and uniqueness.
Beyond the patented "strap button," the bags feature other details inspired by the music world. The logo is shaped like a guitar pick and placed at the center of the bag, while the closure is designed to resemble a tuning key, used to tune an instrument.

Our inspiration comes from that world—I used to listen to music onwalkmans, cassette tapes, and vinyl records.

MADE IN ITALY and SUSTAINABILITY
Our concept of sustainability begins with respect for the primary material used in our products: leather.
This commitment is also reflected in our choice of recycled fabrics, eco-friendly packaging, partnerships with local artisanal workshops (zero-kilometer production), and our support for women victims of gender-based violence.
LEATHER
We reuse waste from the food industry that would otherwise be disposed of in a harmful and polluting manner, transforming it into valuable objects.
Our partner tanneries carry out a special tanning process on bovine leather for our continuous collection. The leather has a matte finish, not shiny, similar to that used for motorcycle bags.
Inside the bag, the leather is back-resin-coated to eliminate irregularities, allowing us to do away with linings, glues, and non-biodegradable support materials.
Each leather bag (and each strap) evolves over time, becoming an object that carries the marks of lived experiences—just like our own skin—and tells the unforgettable story of its owner.
Leather items may show "irregularities," but these are precisely what give them their unique value.
ZERO-KILOMETER ARTISAN PRODUCTION AND SLOW FASHION
The production of The Guitar Bag® products is carried out locally, minimizing transportation and environmental impact.
Our continuous collection is made in a family-run artisanal workshop in our region (Lazio), where every production process is carefully followed at a slow pace to ensure attention to detail, guaranteeing the quality of our products.
From grandparents to grandchildren, this care and expertise have been passed down with passion and professionalism.
FABRICS
The fabrics we use in our bags are recycled and produced by repurposing scraps from knitwear, clothing, and tailoring waste. These materials undergo an advanced recycling process that regenerates fibers that would otherwise be discarded in landfills.
The dyes used are eco-friendly, and the fabric has been tested by the accredited Accredia ISO-IEC 17025 laboratory and carries the ECO PATH certification.
NO WOMAN NO CRY
The Guitar Bag® loves women and has created a collection in collaboration with La.b Leather, a regional artisanal leather workshop that emerged from a job inclusion program for women victims of gender-based violence.
They produce all our fabric and leather straps and four bag models: Whitney, Houston, Janis, and Joplin.
Our "fearless" sweatshirts collection is dedicated to them—a powerful motto meant to encourage all women.
